Career Development

Career Development is tasked with expanding career programs, resources, and support for Fuqua students interested in careers within the social sector or socially-responsible business.

Our goals and objectives are to:

  • Lead weekly Job Search Teams for first-year students
  • Provide guidance for specific career paths in the social space including Education, CSR, Nonprofit Consulting, Environmental Sustainability, Social Entrepreneurship, International Development, and Microfinance
  • Facilitate attendance and preparation for the national Net Impact Conference
  • Work with other Fuqua professional clubs to incorporate social sector speakers and internship/job opportunities into their career workshops and symposiums
  • Liaise with CASE and CMC to provide workshops and presentations regarding social sector and socially-responsible business careers

Career Workshop - FY Job Search Teams for Social Sector Careers

 

When: Every Tuesday, 5:00-6:00pm
Where: The Fuqua School of Business (see table below)

Here are a couple things to keep in mind to help you keep your search on track:

  1. All the front-end items (Learning, Networking, Interview Prep) is happening now regardless of whether you are looking on- or off-campus. Concentrate on these now.
  2. The off-campus search is longer. It will be getting busy just as the on-campus search is dying down. Be patient and proactive.

Weekly Sustainability Roundtable

Audience: Fuqua MBA Daytime Students

Details:  Join Katie Kross for coffee and a discussion about your sustainability job search or other sustainability questions. Anyone who is interested can drop by. We'll have a table reserved in the Fox Center on Wednesday mornings between 9:00am-10:00am. Katie is Associate Director of the Corporate Sustainability Initiative at Duke and author of Profession and Purpose: A Resource Guide for MBA Careers in Sustainability.

Get the most out of the 2009 Net Impact Conference

Net Impact will be leading a special prep session for those who are attending the 2009 Net Impact Conference. The session will provide an overview of the conference and logistics, advice on designing your schedule and choosing which sessions to attend, as well as an opportunity for Q&A. More than 125 sessions are being offered over two days, so it is critical that attendees develop a strategy for attending breakouts and networking at the conference ahead of time.
